Accounts production software for accountants and bookkeepers

Accountants and bookkeepers who prepare statutory accounts for clients need software that handles many companies, separates preparing from reviewing and approving, keeps a record of who changed what, and produces the filing version for each size. From 1 April 2028 accounts must be filed by software in iXBRL, and agents who file will need to be registered with Companies House.

What a practice needs

  • Many companies, one place. A workspace per practice with each client company and financial year, and the right people on each.
  • Preparer, reviewer, approver. Separate roles so that the person who maps the trial balance is not the one who signs off, and the client director approves last.
  • A record. Who changed a mapping, edited a note or approved the accounts, and when.
  • Size and framework done right. The 2025 thresholds and the two-year rule, FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and full FRS 102, and the 2026 changes to FRS 102.
  • Comparatives without retyping. Last year's figures taken over from the accounts filed at Companies House or from last year's file.
  • The filing version. Full, filleted or micro accounts with the right statements; from 2028 an iXBRL file for software filing.
  • The Corporation Tax return from the same figures, since HMRC's free service closed on 31 March 2026.

How StatutoryAccounts.io fits a practice

Status on 28 October 2026: the UK trial balance import, the CT600 module and iXBRL output are in preparation and not yet available. StatutoryAccounts.io prepares accounts and returns for filing: it does not submit them to Companies House or HMRC, and it is not yet HMRC-recognised Corporation Tax software or a Companies House software filer.

StatutoryAccounts.io organises work in workspaces with the roles admin, preparer, reviewer, approver and client. A preparer maps the trial balance with AI suggestions, a reviewer comments, and the client director approves; every step is recorded. The accounts come out as PDF, Word and Excel with a Companies House filing pack prepared for filing; the practice files them as the company's agent. The price is per company per financial year by size (£129 micro-entity to £1,999 large, excluding VAT), with the CT600 for that year included and no subscription.

It does not issue an accountants' report on unaudited accounts or an auditor's report: those stay with the practice, which can add its own report to the accounts.

Identity verification and agents

MeasureDate
Registration of Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) opened18 March 2025
Identity verification mandatory for new directors and people with significant control18 November 2025
Existing directors verify with their next confirmation statementBy 17 November 2026
Anyone filing (presenters) must be verified; third-party agents must be ACSPsNo earlier than November 2027, with at least 6 months' notice
Accounts filed only by commercial software, in iXBRLFrom 1 April 2028

A practice that files for clients should plan for both: registering as an ACSP before the presenter rules start, and filing software that produces iXBRL accounts before April 2028.

Frequently asked questions

Can my clients approve their accounts in the software?

Yes. In StatutoryAccounts.io a client director can be given the approver role to review and approve the accounts the practice prepared.

Does the software produce an accountants' report?

No. The compilation report on unaudited accounts is the practice's own report; it is not required by law and is not filed at Companies House.

Do agents need to register with Companies House?

Third-party agents who file will have to be registered as Authorised Corporate Service Providers once the presenter rules start, which Companies House expects no earlier than November 2027.

How is the software priced for a practice?

Per company per financial year by size, excluding VAT, from £129 for a micro-entity to £1,999 for a large company, with the CT600 for that year included.
